Spring/Summer News 2020
For this Spring/Summer edition of our newsletter, I would like to share some good news with you.
Along with everyone else, we are experiencing difficulties related to the Covid 19 pandemic, but we are still here, manufacturing stock feed for all the producers who rely on us as an essential service to the rural sector.
While cattle prices have been quite buoyant for some time now, pig prices haven’t fared as well, but recently have also turned the corner, a welcome relief for the industry.
With luck on our side, Swine Fever still hasn’t breached our bio-security, and with a federal action plan being formed for better control of the feral pig problem, on a national level; we can start to feel more confident that we may avoid this disease reaching our shores.
With the southern winter crop approaching maturity and a wetter than average spring & summer season predicted, we would hope to see some relief with the cost of feed easing somewhat over the next several months.

Parasites! – Worms—Ticks—Flies & Fleas
All too soon after the first spring rain, along comes the parasites—So be prepared!
Paralysis Ticks!
Now is a good time to consider protecting your farm assets (livestock & working companions) from the deadly paralysis tick, which inhabits most areas east of the Divide, as far south as Sydney.
Several products are available to protect your valuable working dogs in tablet form, spot-on or collars. Considering the value of a good working dog is approximately the annual wage of an employee, the cost of prevention is relatively inexpensive.
Now lets talk about cattle !
We have a great product available to help prevent calves from becoming casualties of the insidious paralysis tick. Python tags (the Purple ones) are very effective , if used correctly.
As these tags are designed as a 2 tag system—it is important to apply 2 tags to each calf—1 in each ear on the back of the ear—this allows for more even distribution of the chemical vapor around the animal for a more effective control of up to 42 days. Compare the analogy to windscreen wipers where only the passenger side is functional—doesn’t help the driver.
Be prepared! – New product available “Cydectin Platinum” a new combination pour-on drench. (Details available on news & resources page)
Along with paralysis ticks—spring heralds the emergence of a host of other annoying profit eating parasites ie: cattle ticks, worms & buffalo flies as the weather warms.
Kewpie is open for business with stock available in most lines.
